I had already painted Elisa’s dog Barney and her cat Lola, so this needed to tie in with those ones. I love Elisa’s styling in her home, and wanted to capture some of that. Dora has some hint of pink and apricot in her fur, and so I chose a location for Dora to sit that was perfect to bring out those colours. Lola had been framed with flowers, so I put Elisa’s beautiful yellow tulips in frame. Elisa asked me to include a favourite wallhanging in the painting too.
