This was a painting commissioned for a 50th wedding anniversary. The couple had met whilst both post-graduates at Cambridge, and married at Churchull College. They had recently returned to the city to celebrate their anniversary, and had discovered the Botanical Gardens for the first time. They’d taken some photos of themselves on the day, and E asked me if I could incorporate them into a painting to remind them of the lovely day they had had. Her husband K had commissioned her a ring, and they would exchange gifts when the ring and the painting were ready.
